Tang Fighting

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen. I have a powder blue tang as well as a yellow tang. I had them in my 150 gallon tank without a problem for several weeks. And several days ago they began to fight pretty viciously. I was beginning to get worried they were fighting so bad, and I thought I was going to have to find a new home for one of them. So, this morning when I got up to my surprise so far, no fighting at all, and they act like they are schooling together and are insepreable. Just thought I'd share, and see if anyone else has had this happen.
Thanks!

they will fight for a while until one becomes dominant. Then they act like best friends. You;ll be fine now that they are swimming together

I had the same thing happen between my powder blue and yellow tang. I ended up just quarantining the yellow sine he was the agressor. Now they get along fine.

djevac, just wondering how your tangs are doing together. I am about to put the same 2 fish together myself. LFS suggested dividing the tank with egg crate untll new fish adapts to tank.

IMO...introduction of the fish is very important...exp: always introduce the most aggressive/biggest fish last after all the other have gotten use to the tank and found their hidding/sleeping spots.
Personally...I introduced a 4" Tennet Tang, a 3.5" Powdered Blue Tang, a 3" Red Sea Sailfin Tang all together. I introduced my oldest and largest Yellow Tang (5") 2 weeks later.
It's really neat to see all of them school together...The Powdered Blue sometimes pick at the Tennet during feeding time.

LOL agreed!
Also I'll add this. When you change tanks, change rock layout.. (destory territories) You can have a dominance switch.
Example. My yellow tang was the only tang in the tank for a year. He was king of the reef. Last year I added a SOHO tang to the community. For the entire year he submitted to the yellow tang, even though he was bigger.
This past week some of you might have read that I increased my reef tank size to 220g from 120 to make room for the growth of both tangs.. and to be able to add more stuffs *grin*
Well the fighting between the two started the day after I put them in the new tank. Now the SOHO is the dominant fish and king of the tank.....

Powder Blue was an impulse, it was just so beautiful. I can always put one of them in my FOWLR. Right now I have them in a 125 separated by egg crate. New blue seems healthy and active. I hopefullly won't have to keep them separated long. I know they need a lot of swimming space. Blue is a little larger than Yellow (who is the king of the reef) So we'll see how they get along when I pull out the egg crate
Thanks
