I believe that I have seen those referred to as Scribbled Rabbitfish or Scribbled Foxface. I know that it is some type of Foxface/Rabbitfish. Cool looking, that's for sure.

Glad to see you have a 240 gal.---anything that cool looking almost always need a huge tank. I dont know what it is, no info for ya. That is 1st I ever seen that fish. Nice eye candy, bump 4 ya. Do you think that is adult coloration or juvie?

I can tell by looking at it that it is a rabbitfish not a tang. They get big, very hardy and tough, also very peaceful. Be careful however as its Dorsal and I believe anal fins are venomous. They are vegetarians and will eat algae, macro-algae, and spirulina.
Although they get big, you shouldnt have an issue having a 240 as they dont get that big.
Man thats an awesome looking rabbit though, not very common either.

I just got him today and that was the first time he came out so it was the best shot I could get. He is very pretty and about 6in long. Took forever to catch. I did not see him under MH so will be happy tomorrow when he feels more at home and I can get a better idea of his color and get a good look of him in his new home.

Yup, I agree that it is a foxface/rabbitfish and that they are poisonous, but nothing to worry about. Just don't grab him with your bare hands ;) I also agree that he is a scribbled foxface/rabbittfish. I have never seen one but I have heard about them. Verry pretty, aren't they. Good luck with him. He is a very rare fish so be careful and treat him well :D

I've looked at a few pictures of a scribbled rabbitfish and I'm not convinced that the ID for the pic above is correct. I'm going to save the pic and try to locate a ID from a few sources I know of. I'll let you know what I find...if anything.
Whatever it is it is a very kewl looking speciman...great pic.

Not sure that this will help any but I have asked around at a few other sites and it seems the fish is a rabbitfish ... check on-line for additional info on Siganus puellus and Siganus doliatus ... folks I've contacted seem to think it could be one or the other. Either way it is a great looking fish...best of luck with it!

The store wanted $70 but I did so other business. I got a large copper butterfly, large naso tang, sixline wrasse, large powder blue, this large rabbit, and a small foxface rabbit or tang for $220.
