Rule is to add the least aggressive first.
I would think add the clowns then the tang.

just wondering, aren't clowns more agressive? since they are part of the damsel family? and they have that whole..territorial agressiveness thing.

when we were setting up the 55gl and i said i wanted a tang, i was told (by lfs guy i trust) to put the tang in last...so we added the clowns then the tang...
i didn't know clowns were agressive, (though one of mine is...)
if clowns are aggressive then add the tang first.
in other words i guess i don't have an answer for you and will wait to see if someone else answers. sorry about that

I have been told to put in the clowns last. Maroons are more aggressive than ocellaris and perculas but i think less than tomatos. I think the Blue (Hippo) Tang is one of the more docile so i think ill add im first. If anyone else has any experience doing this please let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

A&M Aggie---you answered your own question LOL, my blue/regal tang was pretty peaceful and a hog but only had it for a few months. Also the blue/regal tang is very known for ich.... you may want to rethink this.
Make sure you qt and are ready for any ich breakout for some unknown reason, just to be on the safe side. HTH and GL ;)

Actually in this case, I don't think that you really have to worry about either fish, since they both are fairly calm......I've had Tangs and Clowns many different times and have never seen the slightest "difference of opinions"

I know that maroon clowns can get agressive moreso than the other clowns and larger. I work at the lfs and feed them everyday. The tangs almost never mess with other fish. The clowns, you might find are also the more agressive eaters, not leaving food for the tangs. I would add the tangs first and clowns last.

okay, sounds good.
How long should the tang be in my tank before i can put the maroons in. I ordered the maroons and havent a clue when they will be in, so i guess i need to buy the tang soon.

i know the recommended size for a tang is 75 gallons but i guess ill be breaking the rule. Ill be upgrading my tank in a few years and if it outgrows my tank before then, ill either give to my friend that has a larger tank or ill trade it in. But i think he'll be fine in my tank, by the way i think i get him next week.
