Yeah, music to my ears. Our beagle is the small, 13" type, loves everyone( especially kids); but the howl starts as soon as she picks up a scent when let out in the morning. If my daughter hides on her, I'll just tell the Queen Beagle to "find Jessie" and she puts her nose to the ground and the howl says she's on the trail.....Carry THAT around in your purse,

There was a never ending war between our beagles and the squirrels. Every morning we would let the dogs out. They would put their nose to the ground and howl and follow the scent of sqirrel paths all around the yard for the next 3 hours till it ended in the tree. Then they would go dig up the nuts they burried and howled. It is the funniest thing ever watching a dog dig into the ground barking at dirt!
And they LOVED cats, we had a cat that we found as a kitten who was orphaned. Our dog was nursing still, so we tried to see if the dog would take it in. She looked at it and looked at it as if to say, this aint mine. Then say fine if you guys say so.
The cat ended up not taking the milk. But slept withe the puppies and played with them. She and the momma dog would end up sitting in the backyard taking summer naps in the sun together. Dang i miss those guys.
