DO you have such and oddly dimensioned 50 gallon tank?
I take it there aren't alot of options on a 6' long tank than? The safe way to do the tang thing would be to do a min 6' long tank and min gallon size than?
If so how do you determine the min volume for a tang? Does it depend on the happiness of the tang, the size, the swimming thing or the bioload? If yes to any or all or more, how do you quatify that so as to get an adequate size tank with the proper length and the proper volume?

6ft by 18inches minimum footprint.. most standard tanks are gonna be at least 18inches tall at that size so they work out just fine.

Most tangs are open water fish. They don't hide out in small sections of a reef, as most of our hobby fish do. They swim in the open sea. A six foot tank is perfect if you plan to keep larger tangs. They all need the water parameters to be on. They are swimmers and will suffer from lack of space. They will literally decline in health. It takes a few years for fish to get that big though. If your water readings are on, and you are not over-stocked, then your tang will be fin for now.

Hey guys, i keep hearing about the tang police but have yet to see a tread that i know for sure is there's. Anyways i had some questions for them or anyone who can help. I am getting a 60g tank
in a few months (as you may have read) and am trying to get as prepared as possible with a stock list that will work and some good knowledge to start a healthy tank. The question i have is, is there any tang that will work in this tank? the tank is five feet long
and will be a fish only tank with lr. I found a Tomini Tang on this site that from what I could tell only gets to be about 3 inches? True? and if not any other tangs that will work? no worries if not but they are such cool fish, and i would love to have one, just not at the expense of a stressed fish, or worse

Thx guys
What are the actual dims .. a 60 gallon at 5 ft long just doesn't sound right. Most 75's to 90 gallon tanks are only 4 ft.long x 18 wide.So unless this 60 is very shallow and very narrow ,it may be 100 gallons or more.Or maybe just not 5 ft. i think most 50-60 gallons are 48 in x 12
