tang question

Okay I already know putting a yellow tang in a 45 gallon tank is bad :nope: but i am going to do it anyway because i cant resist not having one. sorry guys. The question is I read usually only about yellow tangs. Are the other tangs like the purple and blue hippo the same as a yellow tang when dealing with the size of tank?
for example would a blue hippo tang be better in a 45 gallon than a yellow tang.
also another question if you want to answer it. would putting
1x tang
2x Percula clowns
sabae anemone
2x cleaner shrimp
1x coral branded shrimp
2x brittle star
10x turbo snails
20x hermit crabs
2 or 3 other fish i havent decided on (obviously fitting the perameters)
with corals such as different mushrooms, brains, frogspawns and polyps(maybe other corals)
would that be too much for the tank. Now you may think well of course if put in all at once, but im talking like over a period of time.
since i am a beginer what would you suggest. right now i have 3 damsels cycling the tank w/ some hermits and turbos and LR. thanks for the help :happyfish

I suggest putting 6 or 7 tangs in just so he wont die alone
while your at it when you pick him up why not try to take out a few squirrels with the car on the way home or a small dog maybe to get this killing spree under way.
I appologize for my words ahead of time, i just love all animals so much, and hate to see them needlessly suffer and die just cause someone has to have one.
Please for the sake of the fish reconsider your choice. Just like MC said there are plenty of other beautiful choices.

Your interests say computers and FISH. If your interested in fish then learn about, and heed what you learn. This is typed not spoken so I want to point out that I'm not saying this to be mean or sarcastic, but genuinly... If you ARE going to do things like that, things that will get everybody all riled up, then please don't post it. A lot of people actually take the advice they read here, your post suggests that it ins't that important, when in fact it is VERY important. If you don't take the advice then why are you asking for it???

i wasnt asking whether or not i could put a yellow tang in my tank. i know its not recommended. the question was do hippo tangs and purple tangs require the same space as yellow tangs. i assume they do, but im not quite sure. and about the killing all the tangs thing that is just a little excessive i care about the fish i put into my tank and want to get it right. i am still researching and deciding. so i think the comments about the tangs were very unecessary.

Hippo's require more room than yellows (minimum I think is a 75g) and I think purples need more than a yellow too.

It's kinda difficult to get past this!!
BUT I'm a good sport and I'll play along...
Yellow Tang...AT LEAST 75 GAL.
Purple Tang...AT LEAST 100 GAL.
Blue Hippo Tang...AT LEAST 100 GAL.
And about the killing tangs thing, no that is not excessive. Fish cannot tell you when they are stressed, so if you continue to stress them, they die!! 45 gallons would be to a tang, what chinese water torture would be to you... It doesn't seem bad at first, but it would drive you insane, a fish doesn't go insane, it simply dies.

According to several of my books, blue hippos and purple tangs each require a minimum 125 gal tank, because they can grow so large (both 12 inches+). Hope that helps.
