Tang question

I went to another store this weekend. The store I went to last night...they actually knew about this site. I was asking about good fish I could add...he suggested a tang for my tank...& I said a lot of people on this site have told me that tangs need a huge tank size & can sometimes take over your tank. He said that was true for some species of tang, but the blue hippo is very peaceful & likes to hide in rockwork, & likes being around other fish. He said that if I was going to get a different tang, I'd need more room for swimming & maybe less lr. I know they get 5-6 inches, but that would just mean I'd have to limit the number of fish I put in(which he suggested), right?
I was looking at tangs on this site, it says blue hippo tangs are: easy, peaceful, yes(reef safe)-they eat algae all-day long. Wouldn't that be good for my tank? And, I saw a website that said blue hippos need a min. of 65g-70g, my tank wouldn't be much less (60g).

You may be able to put a yellow tang in a tank that size but that kind of tank is really too small for a blue hippo.

Blue hippos really should have a tank that is 72 inches in length to swimwhich your 60 g does not have sorry but that is just what alot of people say.

if you want a tang get a kole tang aka yellow eyed tang. the blue hippo gets about 12 inches and is too big for your size tank, but if you got a small one which isn't hard to find it'd be ok for a while even though i don't agree with doing this unless you plan on getting a bigger tank in the future.

Anita, read the other post I reply to you in your other thread. Like numerous other post have said, unless you're willing to upgrade your tank down the road, you better not get a tang at all. Blue Hippo Tang are harder to take care of then most tangs. They do stress easily and they don't like to be rejected by other fish. They're beautiful fish and I would LOVE to have one, but won't get one until we get our 125+ gallon tank before or by spring. We're shopping around for one right now, maybe we'll get one by Christmas? I can only wish.... :happyfish
