I was in my lfs yesterday and they have the most adorable tiny little yellow tang i have ever seen. I noticed though it had some black specks all over it, can anyone tell me what that could be??
No I am not buying this tang just incase anyone wants to know, my tank of 5 gal is to big for it.....

Black ich never heard of it, learn something new everyday.
I would never tell her how to treat the fish, I would be told that I only have a nano tank and what do I know. Plus like most lfs all they want is to get the fish in and get them out just as fast. This store does not particularily care for the well being of the livestock, I only went there as they have the best prices for dry goods. But oh my gosh their tanks are in really bad condition.

Your "5 gallon tank is to big for it" that doesn't make any sense

pretty sure she was joking.....its a shame when lfs don't take care of their fish...everyone is just looking to make a fast buck!

I am lucky enough to have a good lfs i was eying this foxface for a while and when I talked to the guy yesterday he said honestly it has not eaten anything since they had it so I opted for a sailfin tang they had instead. I do agree also with the black ich diagnosis...poor fish

Thanks for the great information on the Powder Blue Tangs. This really answered my question and also got me straight on how hard they are to keep and also keep alive, which is most important. Thanks burt

I know you had to see the
So it must really be a tiny tang indeed.
When I got my Hippo tang it was the size of my pinky fingernail, I mean tiny. It was free, I don't think the guy thought it would live. I have had it two years now.

Yes it is a very tiny tang, probably the smallest i have ever seen. Looks healthy except for the black spots. I sure hope that someone buys it that knows what they are doing though.
