The description on the website here states that Kole tangs have "horizontal yellow stripes running along its body" Are you sure its a Kole tang? It has the eye of a Kole but its probably a subspecies or a juvenile? Any other suggestions?

Definitely not a Kole (a.k.a Yellow Eye Tang). It's some type of Unicorn Tang or Blue Spot Tang, but definitely not a Kole.

Naso Lopeza tang. Will grow to 20 inches. I almost bought one the other day for my 90 gallon because he was so interactive and was interested in looking at me in the fish store....great personality, but do your reasearch next time before buying. He will need about a 180 gallon tank when he grows up! You can always give him back to the fish store when he gets too big, but, if you are like me, I find it difficult to do because I become attached to my fish after a while.

They are deffinatly related, but I think it is different, notice the spot pattern and body shape compared to the SWF site. This one really hasn't grown in 6 months. On another site (not sure which one) I thought it closest to a blue spot naso tang. Anyone hear of that????

elmcenber, i think its very hard to tell what of tang it is because there are very few people who have full-grown naso sp. tangs but i m sure thats a naso sp.
I stil think its a juvi vlamingi. Pic in the site should be an adult pic

I forgot to mention, he also can change to a grey/brown spotted color very quickly if he is nervous or startled.

That sure is a Vlamingi Tang.... My boyfriend has had one for a year now... it was 3 inches then.... now just less than 4. They have a huge appetite!!! Definetly need special attention and large aquarium.
