I really want a tomini tang but I only a 40b with a cpr backpack skimmer is it ok to keep this tang in this small of a tank

Afraid not. Tangs need large fish tanks.

Most recommend a 6' long tank for tangs although that is one of the smaller tangs...but the 40 is definitely half the size u need

I'd say a 4 foot long 75 gallon would be minimum tank size. There are tanks in that gallon range that are not 4 feet long those would not do. Tangs need the length to swim. If they don't have it they get stressed which can lead to agression and disease.
