tangs and greens question?

i got me my 1st tang last week it is the yellow tang as i have read the most hardy and easy to keep tang. my question is the mention of greens in his diet are we talkin algae, seaweed, lettuce, spinach, romaine, i live in an area where there are only 2 lfs and 1 petsmart within a 115 mile radius. 1 lfs is very small ( this is the 1 i shop at most the owner and i are kind of learning the sw game together, but his fish survive and are healthy ) the 2nd store was the only ticket in town so they charge anything they want too charge, filthy store, fairly knowledgable staff, but the fish i have got from there before seem to have a bad survival rate (this may, and probably, or at least a strong possibility could of been my bad due to overcrowding/greed of lots of fish, and not putting fish in a qt when purchased, tank crashed everything but my blue-devil damsel died, i still have scooby he is a good peaceful damsel ) the 3rd is the petsmart chain and they sell very limited saltwater supplies no fish.i did get my tang, and a golden headed sleeper gobie at the 2nd store mentioned as that is the 1 closest to me, and now 1 have quite a bit more expeirience and they do have a pretty good selection and the store has been cleaned up some, but back to question this tang is my 1st veggie eating fish as i have not seen him eat the mysis, but have seen him peck at algae pellets/wafers and at my lr and for the tang police it is in a 150 6ft. tank. have a good day all responce welcome tobin :notsure: :happyfish

You may be better off ordering your greens/browns on line. You can certainly get more for your money. I have been alternating a green then a brown algae for the fish (Hippo tang, yellow tang, flame angel) All are healthy. Try not to overfeed. The reds are good for fish I don't stock, so I have been sticking with the browns and greens. It's a shame you don't have more of a selection in your area.

You can buy seaweed (Nori) from your local grocery store, or a specialty store (oriental), Nori is what they make sushi and other dishes with, it is sold in sheets and cheap.
You can also use Fresh Frozen Peas and Fresh Frozen Broccoli thawed, this will help offer more of a variety of greens.

Its perfectly acceptable to call THINGS oriental (ex. oriental restaurant, oriental rug, oriental shop). Its not P.C. or proper to call PEOPLE oriental (ex. that oriental dude has a nice car).

I feed my tang nori, alagea sheets, my tang also might be a little "akward" because he goes crazy over flake food. Also they make a frozen herbivore food too, I'm not to sure but I think its marine cuisine.
