Tangs in a 50 gal

what are the dimensions? I highly doubt it. They need to have plenty of horizontal swimming room, so if it is something like a 50 gallon hexogon or odd shaped tank, I woulndt reccomend a tang.

Well id same the MIN would be 75.Y ou are gonna get so many answers on this. More no then yes. IMOHO you could do a small kole, yellow even a purple tang . Now you would have to either upgrade or you would have to give them away or sell them in the future. Maybe not the kole or yellow but the hippo gets pretty big. My brother keeps a purple tang in a 75 which is 48inches long. He has had it for year and a half no probs. Here is a little list to think about just a estimate.The blue tang will get as big as 12". The other 3 about 7. How much swimming room do you have in our tank. Kole and purple tangs are nice they are more of grazers but still swimmers. Its totally up to you people wont make the descion for you just give you opions. Id deff look into the kole or purple if you want somthing other then the ordinary yellow tang. Check out some kole tangs they are cool you have to see them in person to like them they look ugly on the internet trust me. WHen i get my 75 im gonna keep a purple (very small) and 2 percs thats it. But a 75 has 18"width very better aquascaping and therefore more swimming room. Tanks like yours and 55g is really pushing it with a 12" width

I know how you feel tangs are so cool. I dont like other fish that much besieds tangs and percs . 2 cute paired percs hosting in something is priceless. Now of days percs are hosting in any kind of coral. Heck i seen a pic of percs hosting in a toadstool leather. Do you have a pic of your tank i could see how much rock you have and what not. Purple tangs dont get that big you could try a purple tang

sorry for the confusinon i know they get big. But i meant they dont get 12-18" big like naso and a hippo i should have said that. Yea i deff wouldnt reccomend a purple tang in his tank. But its up to him. You can buy them pretty small they have them at my LFS at a inch and half. The smallest I would put a purple in is a 75 just IMO
