You could, but it would be a tight squeeze. The average 55 gallon tank is 50X13X20. The regal would get to 12 inches. The yellow tang would be better because they only grow to about 8 inches.

most tangs really need a 72 in tank once they are fully grown. a 55 gal is the bare minimum for maybe one kole tang (they stay the smallest). anyother tangs you will need a larger tank. remember tangs are open water swimmers and need that space to be healthy. hth.

definitely not two tangs in 55....one might work, but it has to be yellow tang/kole tang or other tangs that stay relatively small...

Well, I have a yellow tang and a Blue tang(regal tang) in my 50 gallon and they are fine for a while, they are both small like about an inch. I consider my self a savor, for saving both of those fish from the fishstore, they had like 20 yellowtang in a 40 gallon tank, and 8 blue tang in a 30 gallon tank.
