you can have a purple with a yellow but the tank needs to be more around minimum of 200 with lots of workwork for hiding.
and yes, you can add multiple tangs to one tank as long as your tank can support them and they're all different body type/color.
how large is your tank? tangs are aggressive grazers and vorocious algae eaters, but because of their grazing habits, they need ample room to swim.
if you have a 6ft 125, i wouldn't exceed having four tangs in there at once. I kep it a rule of thumb to only keep 3 at any given one time. Just plan ahead. For example, if you want to get a purple tang, then don't go out tomorrow and buy a yellow. These two guys will rip each other apart (as i unfortunately found out back in my high school days)
They are an extremely fun family of fish to keep though! Two of my favorites are the chevrons and speckled yellow eyes! They love eating the algae off the glass too!
