thanks crash, i currently have a 75 gal. but in the rear future i plan on a 220 or bigger, that would be a better tank for the to tangs i think.

The bigger the tank the better luck you will have keeping multiple Tangs.
In general, though it is not 100%, different shaped Tangs tolerate one another.

Agreed . I had a 125 gallon tank so it was a little bigger than what your working with . My understanding is if you do them in an odd number that works best . 1,3 or more .

it really comes down to the attitude of the fish you get. i have had a clown tang in with a blue hippo and yellow tang and they were fine. my friend has a yellow and a sailfin and they are fine "in their 75 gallon" but the sailfin is quite large compared to the yellow. at my LFS where i used to work they had a purple and a blue hippo in their 400 display tank and the purple RIPPED it apart..it had no fins left and look terrible. they were put in at the same time and what not..both very large at the time also. purple tangs can be NASTY fish, but any tang can really. some more then others but purple are alot of the time rated peaceful and i have seen first hand they can be very aggressive. good luck!

I would honestly wait to add the tangs till you have a larger tank . A 75 is considered to small for tangs . I had mine in a 125 and that even seamed small when they would stop grazing on rock and try to stretch their fins by swimming back and forth .

i agree, i wouldnt put anything more than a small yellow/scopas/purple in my 90. they need much more room then that even to swim and they grow quite fast. a 125 is a great tank to have if you want tangs, but as always the bigger the better.

I agree with what the info most people wrote. Ideally the bigger the tank the better 150+ for smaller tangs. Adding them at the same time definately helps. Keeping tangs from two different genus's, shape, color, and size. As an example I have a Ancathurus(Powder Blue)that is about 4 1/2". I wanted to add a Zebrasoma Rostratum (Black Tang). I knew that getting a larger Black Tang would help to alleviate aggression b/w the new addition. The Black is a different color, genus and shape. I got a 7" Black and still the PBT gave him hell for abot ten minutes until the Black Tang out him in it's place. They get along fine now. Be aware that there is no golden rule with compatabilty with tangs or any other fosh for that matter. Make sure you have an alternate plan in case thing s don't work out. Also If you add another tang after having one, keep the existing tang well fed, add the new tang with lights out, and if possible change the landscape of LR just before adding new tang. Hope this helps. Here's my two tangs. Regards, Tim
