Just an idea. Do you have a quarntine tank? Maybe put the hippo in quarantine (which you should do anyway with this fish) first and then put the yellow in quarantine after. Monitor both, especially the incoming hippo for any signs of disease. Once you're sure that there is no worry of infecting the main tank then put them both into the display at the same time.

I do qt them b4 putting in tank. It just did not make sense why yellow killed salefin after 3 months left him alone whole time until last week

Is this in a 55G tank that you have listed in your profile?
If so, than that's half the reason the Yellow Tang killed your Sailfin; the other being that they're the same genus (Zebrasoma) of tangs. Zebrasoma's usually don't get along with one another unless in very large setups.

No its 125g. But why would he wait 3 months to kill him? They would hang out and swim in same area of tank. Then he went crazy. Pulled salefin out and put in qt but it was to late

Ahh, that's a little better. I thought you had a larger tank, needed to double check.
Yellow Tangs are mean. I've yet to come across one that I can trust. They'll wait a while before they strike. If they were hanging out in the same areas of the tank, chances are, the YT was "stalking his prey," for a lack of a better way to word it.
You should have better luck with the Hippo, since it's a different genus, but I would highly recommend giving the YT a time out in the QT so that the hippo can adjust to the tank without being harassed. Hippo's stress very easily, and I fear that your YT will bully it to death, even if it never actually nips a fin.
You might want to also consider moving some rock work around while the YT is out of the tank.

Its weird the yt harassed my fire angel for one day now he leaves him alone. I almost wanna put the yt in my 55g with my clowns and blue spot jawfish just so I don't have to worry. I think he is the devil I caught him picking on my snowflake eal the other day to:sad:

They're little monsters. My sailfin was very aggressive, and I think it was because she came from a tank that had a YT in it. I had to get rid of her, she was beating on my Blonde Naso, my Copperband Butterfly and dwarf angels. Now I have a Purple Tang, and it is soo peaceful. I really do think the YT ruined my Sailfin's peacefulness. You might want to throw it in the 55. You can always move it back as it grows larger, or sell it to someone else later on as well. The time out might be enough. I definitely don't recommend putting the Hippo in the 125 with the YT in there for right now.

He'd be making a trip to the 500G Predator Tank at my LFS if he did that, LOL
I think you might want to look into trading this guy back into the LFS and maybe getting those wrasses, OR getting a new tang that you can add after the hippo in hopes that it will be less aggressive.

No.... I read this thread and don't understand what the issue is with you YT. Most things I read basically say they are nonaggressive.

Have you tried adding them in at the same time with the lights off? You need the tang whisperer

I think you should get rid of him...
This reminds me of this thread:
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/forum/thread/385988/really-aggressive-niger-trigger
maybe the 2 should be together?

That sucks!
For what it is worth, I NEVER trust Yellow Tangs. They're evil little fish. They're on the same list as Damsels for me

I don't get it. Every yellow tang I have ever seen has been so laid back and just did it's own thing. I think your tang was dropped on it's head. Our Tang is so like....
well I just have to say it..................
