Well today have been rough. My child poured two containers of fish food in my reef tank and my oscar holding tank today. I was lucky and seemed to have caught my corals and fish in time. I have a 55 that I was getting ready to move everything to.
I would like to say that be careful around kids, I have always let my kids help me feed my fish with me right beside them. Well today he said the fish looked hungry so he fed it.

hmmm I am inclined to say kids + ANYTHING = YIKES (Sorry I have two year old twins giving me a hard time).
Glad everything seems to be okay, I have heard some pretty bad stories of what kids can do.
THe worst mine have done is to get into my skimmer cup and get it all over themselves (I think they ate some of it  )

Yeah, kids + fish tank is never a good idea. I was watching my nine year old niece one day and she went to use the bathroom, but decided to make a stop to look at my tank (it is en route to the bathroom). Well, she decided to put her finger in the water and try to "pet" my volitan lion (who was swimming at the top of the tank, waiting for his dinner). I freaked out when she said she tried to touch him, but "kept on missing". Thank God she did not touch him and get stung. Ever since I have been extra cautious.

Well I do not have kids over that often unless everyone is coming over for like a party or something, so I didn't even think about it because it is not usually an issue.

My young daughter likes to pull the output hose on my PO4 reactor. Luckily, I always have a close eye on her because the whole tank can be drained from it. That would suck

Ok, ok, other extreme here, I have 3 kids...ages 15, 8 and 5 and they LOVE the fishies, but truly they know the rules BIG TIME. They are not allowed to touch, feed , nothing!! we made it clear right away and explained how it can KILL them and you love them right???? Sooooo, we have the tank for 4 months now and no kid issues here...other parents....just make sure upfront you scare the Jeezers our of your kids that they will KILL those fish they love if they touch anything......hehe...worked here. I do sometimes let them put the flakes in the top of the tank but I have readied all of the food for them in quantity and then put it in their hands. Our naso eats some algae sheet right from our fingers now, she is so sweet.

I have a 2 yearold sister and she seems to love the fish tank. I have never had a problem with her. I think that the 2 attack Doberman's and the electrified razor wire around the tank stops her from doing anything.

that sucks, my friends little brother pured a gallon of bleach into his 20 gallon swf aquarium. thank god that it only had some mushrooms and a xenia. he had to drain his whole tank and re-cycle it!
