I bought a tank and stand online. The tank is a 125 gl. The guy I bought it from used it in the wall so he never used the stand. The tank and stand fit like a glove. The problem is I found a sticker on the stand that says "NOTE: Filled with water and gravel, a 75-gallon aquarium and stand can weigh more than 1000 lbs." and other info. So does this mean that the stand will not hold the 125 gl tank? Also, a side note to add is this stand is from Perfecto Mfg. company.
Hmm a stand for a 125 would be much larger than that of a 75 gallon, so I would think if the 125 fits...then it was made to hold it. They may just be giving a reference for people so they have an understanding when they consider where they are placing the tank. Such as if you were on a second floor since the tank is 1000 pounds you would probably want to put it on a bearing wall. Point being maybe 75 is a default so that people will carefully consider the weight of a tank, but it is not necessarilly applicable in this situation. I have a 125 that sits on 1x material. It is braced well where needed, but nothing bigger than 1x. It does not take alot when the weight is evenly distributed.
