so i go to buy some paint the other day. and while i'm looking at the different shades of black and blue a friend of mine's kid asked me," does it have to be blak or blue? why can't you use pink?"
besides that it would be ugly, do you think that diff. colors; red, pink, purple, orange, etc. would have any adverse effect on the fish in your tank?

My current 55 gallon is painted black but the 125 gallon I'm setting up will be blue. I would like a gradient with dark blue on the bottom fading as it goes up. I have seen some gorgeous tanks here and I plan to find out what they used before I commit to anything.
On a side note I might leave 6" or so on the bottom clear so I can 'peek' and see what my purple lobster is doing.

I've always used black. It gives a deeper look to the tank and also makes the fish's colors stick out alot more.

i've seen this done with nano's. but what they do is they lay their tank on their backs and they spread this type of glue all over the back of the tank (on the inside) then they put a couple small pieces of rocks on it and then a couple inches of sand and they let it dry for a couple days, they when they stand it up it looks like a sand wall with rocks protruding out of it. it's pretty cool looking. if i ever get another tank, that's what i'm going to do.

I got some black paint from a craft store that is meant for glass. It works much better than paint from hardware stores. I recommend that when you peel the tape off after the paint has dried to hit it with a razor so the paint doesn't peel with the tape.
