i got a 150 gal tank for free from a my praents friends, but they used it as a snake cage. just wondering if i should use some special method of clening or something..

Try using warm water, NO SOAP!!
Rinse the tank thoroughly and you can use some vinegar with the warm water. Also if you have to scrub or scrape anything don't use anything that has been used with a cleaning product. I would buy a cheap toothbrush or a cheap scrubber of some sort if needed.
Then check for leaks by just filling up the tank with regular water and you are on your way.
