Tank cycle

I started cycling 3 weeks ago with shrimp. Got a little ammonia in 1 week then 2 weeks ago added 100 pounds of LR. The ammonia is still around .1 or .15, the first color square on the color chart.
Zero nitrites.
Seems like I am not going anywhere.
Any advice?

No they are not in.
The shrimp only took 3 days to get the ammonia up.
Then the LR went in. That is why I am confused as to why the Ammonia has not gone up.
Started fast no it is just sitting there.
Also the LR came with snails, hermits, 2 shrooms and tons od tiny duster things. They are all still around.

Was the live rock shipped or bought from a LFS. If it was shipped there will be some die off that could be contributing to the ammonia level staying the same. 3 weeks is not that long, I have noticed sometimes it will stay around .15 for a little while, then it will drop, just be patient, the levels will come down.

depending on whether or not you had any die off from the rock, it may go faster, but in any case, it wil happen soon. You wil see, just hang in there, it will happen and soo, I am sure. Then it will all be worth the wait.

Birdy: half and half
Alti: nitrate? I have not checked that! I have been looking for ammonia and nitrites! I expect it to be zero butt we shall see.

i asked about nitrate since you have 100 lbs of live rock. i cycled one of my tanks with a large ammount of cured lr and i really never saw much nitrites at all. the ammonia was similar to your levels as well. i kept adding more shrimp to the tank to get the ammonia up, but it just went away after a while. i checked the nitrates after a couple weeks and the level was around 20 ppm. the tank seemed to have skipped most of the cycle. i was still hesitant to add fish, so i did it very slowly. never had a problem. this not be the case with your tank, but you might as well check the nitrate levels.

I tested today.
AM = .1
NI= 0
NA=0
Phosphates=0
PH=8.2
Alk=normal
Really strange. Lots o life in there. Hermits, snails, a lot of algea!
I am going to wait until the end of the month then put in 2 small perculas I have. I would hate to lose them but there are little dusters, 2 shrooms and countless others doing ok. I have heard people say they skipped or cycled quick and never believed it but...

if you want, you cna test yoru ammonia by taking it to the lfs. Many of them will do free water tests. And double check your numbers.
Did you ever have any nitrites?
if so then I would definitely have the water tested, it coudl be your kit or the way you are doing your tests tool
Since you used shrimp, before the LR, then it may be that you have cycled and the ammonia is a false reading too.
If this turns out to be the case, then leave the tank empty for about 2 more weeks adn make sure it is stable, then go ahead and start adding fish
