Tank Divided

I would like to put a divider in my 120 gal tank by using latice. Would that work to have two seperate triggers?

i woult try to use eggcrate
its the grate in flouresent lighting fixtures in commercial buldings
you can get it at home depo for 10 -15 bucks a 2'x4' sheet
