Does the Lawnmower actually eat green hair algae? I had one that wouldn't eat it, or anything else for that matter, so it died.

I have never had green hair algae in my tank, but when i dont clean the glass for a while i see his moth marked all up and down the algae on the glass. he also picks at the rocks nonstop.
