Finally got my New 150G tank today.

Also my AI SOL Super Blues were delivered, starting with three to start. (was playing with the settings...crazy)
Octopus Skimmer
Heaters
Pump
Going out tomorrow to get a 55g tank for the sump, will build that.
Powerheads arrive tomorrow. Got 2 (750 GPH) with a wave/timer system for them.
I will be pushing the tank straight back on the wall, and moving the xmas tree. Sorry tree.
Will update everyone on the progress and I am sure ask questions.

Today I picked up 200 lbs of sand. 225lbs of Rock.
Had my salt mixing for 72 hours. Impressed with my RO/DI (5 stage). Pumped out the water a lot faster then I expected.
Time to set the tank up tonight!!!
Will post pictures once it is up and running. Which means 2am....so easy to lose sleep with this obsession.

Well don't mind the rock, as I threw it in until tomorrow so I can place the base, then add sand, and then the rest of the rock.
Though I made enough water, but didn't so I am waiting for the rest of the RO/DI water.
On the funny side... I hadn't played with the AI's too much, but had them plugged in and they were on the standard preset time. So the royal blues. Suddenly it went pitch black and started flashing. Since it is 1:30 am, my brain wasn't fast enough to think "thunderstorm" mode. Ha! That was a confusing moment.
Here are 2 pictures of my Sump plumbing.

Next question. I am getting a huge shadow because of the support "plastic" in the middle of the tank. Anyway around this? I move the AI to the right, the right side of the tank is brighter, to the left, the same. Thoughts?

One suggestion, it looks like you did the PVC work after you added the sump. Before you get to far you may want to consider adding some couplings to the pvc. It will IMO make removing the sump a lot easier if you ever have to

I see a problem.
The pipes don't run into the sump.
Very nice set up you got there, you most of been a very good boy this year.

Yes I was actually thinking of putting some couplings tonight. :)
The pipes don't run into the sump? I am thinking the picture doesn't show it well.
The three on the left run into the tank, I don't have the skimmer placed in there. One of the three is just a control in case I need to decrease the return and have it flow back into the sump. It is fun to buy xmas present for myself!

You may also want to not have your PVC so level, this way you can help your flow move along
You may also want to consider placing on the vertical support behind the sump a gang style electrical equipment timer

Thanks for the input also. I have one that will be put up right next to the sump, you just can't see it in this picture, and it wasn't up. It was 1:30 am I thought it would be a good idea to stop working with tools that could cut my fingers off at that hour. But tonight, it should all be finished and running.
Thanks again for the input both are valid points and will be correct as I can see logistically why they will work better.

Looks very good IMO, and have to agree with Joe on the unions......Makes life super easy.....Don't agree with sloping any of the plumbing.....I could understand that reasoning if you had long runs, but the runs are short, and not needed....I'd suggest not putting your timer right next to the sump......Splashing can be an issue and even over time you'll see issue with how it degrades the unit.....The only other thing I notice is the zip ties on the plumbing....I'd find a better alternative to support them.

The zip ties will actually be secured better it was the only thing I had last night. Everything will be secured. Also the timer etc are on the other side of the tank, so there is about a 2 foot gap between the sump and the timer.
Now above. The back return section has a small hole underneath, and I understand why, but does this have to be here, it creates a large amount of noise. Also the small pipe coming out the top of the intake...i have air building up in the PVC then will burst at once down into the sump. Can this be plugged? The PVC has 2 holes on the sides to stop the siphon about an inch lower. Thoughts. I am just all about noise reduction.
I would take tank pictures, but with the addition of sand etc...it just is a cloud of mess. :)

I'm assuming your talking about the siphon break hole in the return line.......You could always move it elsewhere if you choose fit, but you do need a siphon break at some point or place......As far as the air tube your referring to.....That IMO is a poor design, and either a PITA to quiet or tune.....Not a design I would use......I'd prefer to open the original hole and get an air valve and tap it into the hole and that way you can adjust and fine tune the air amount in the line to quiet and prevent the "flushing" event you have going on.....Just my .02
