These hunger strikes are worrisome. Ok not cyanide, that's a relief, but any ideas on a possible internal problem or source of stress? Can you think of anything at all that precipitated this sudden feeding?
I agree though, with the condition he's in right now removing him to do hypo would probably do him more harm than good.
I really hope he keeps it up for ya!!!
He hasn't been happy after his buddy died from temp fluctuation a while back with the new lights. I did not know until I came home early one day and find the temp to be at 84 and drops back down to 78 at night, I work late so when I get home it's at 78 so I thought everything is kewl. I start to notice fish getting stressed and sick so I came home early to check one day and that's what I find. I took care of that problem, but his buddy was wayyyy too sick to save. So after his buddy died, he hasn't been eating well at all, then he start to eat well again until new corals came around. I think it's because of the new surroundings that's causing him to stress out, but at least he's coming out of it now. Still eating today, but I need to do a water change because I feed him so much lately. I will do a large water change Thursday. Also getting a pre-filter box from a lady near by, she's giving it to me. I forgot to order it a while back when I got my Aqua C Remora. Also picking up some dry live rock from a guy that's near by her for a $1 per lb. I'm picking up at least 50 lbs from him. I have well established live rocks anyway, they'll seed the new rocks. :happyfish

Wow, Mikeyjer!!! That is one touchy naso. At least you know your fish and that ANY changes to your tank may make him skittish for awhile. I harp on people at work sooo much about that! There's general rules and guidelines you can always go by but nothing in the world beats getting to know your individual pet as inside and out as possible by paying attention!
burtrippey: You'll need to be more exact about everything for us to help. How large is your tank? What are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and anything else you test for readings? What all do you have in there? How are you acclimating the animals?
I would NEVER add LFS tank water into my tank
I totally agree with that or from anywhere else no matter what their rep or how nice their tanks look! The usual places we get our animals from are normally not the greatest conditions and you have to figure that at SOME point there's been a problem with illness or something that may still be lurking around in their water.
At work I've been fighting tooth and nail to get the saltwater section as good as I keep my own tank and it was working! I ordered a select few fish and they were doing so beautifully! Then when I wasn't there they sent me a ton of unordered fish, someone didn't acclimate them as well as I do and dumped the bagwater in there, and now they're all sick again!!!!
Putting in the water they came in may seem to be no big deal but it's so important not to.

Tell me about it, he's very picky, at least he gain all his weight back now and start eating algae sheets again after one week of starvation. I had to feed him A LOT of formula 2 to help him get his weight back in shape. I do anything for this fish, one of my favorite fish that I have. Thanks to my good sandbed and protein skimmer, that took care of the nitrate from the excess food, plus I did a water change anyway. :happyfish

just a question, when u added fresh water, was the bucket or what ever u used clean. I had a freind whose wife used his pal to clean someting and didn't tell him. he did a water change and killed everything.
