I have a 65 gal F/O tank with a lion and a puffer, my question is what other colorful fish can I put with them?:happyfish
I also saw a very large mandarin goby at the lfs I know gobys are a no-no but if he is about 3-4inches will that make a difference?
Thanks!

What kind of lion and what kind of puffer is it? I'm assuming volitan and either a dogface or porky? The fish you currently have will eventually outgrow your 65, but depending on their current size, you could keep them for a pretty decent amount of time. Eels are always a good choice, and don't take up much room. Snowflakes, chainlinks, etc. are all good choices. Green wolf eels, although not a true eel also make very interesting tankmates. Do you plan on upgrading, or is this tank going to be it?

You lion will swallow mandarin without a sweat! If you're planning on upgrading to a considerably bigger tank in the near future, you have many options. For instance, you can try grouper. Some of them are very colorful. My personal favourite is miniatus grouper (aka coral trout). Eels are always a good choice if you don't mind seeing them only once in a while.

I recommend that people stay away from Mandarins. The food they eat is by no means easy to reproduce or readily available in a sustainable quantity. I have only kept two of these fish, one lasted almost a year however. Traditionally they slowly starve to death as thier food supply gets consumed. Some people will disagree but it doesnt seem far to the fish.

They are a red v. lion and a pork. puffer
We quickly relized after we put them in the tank that 65 gal was not so big after all, so will be upgrading soon.
What about a small angel or tang?
Thanks 4 the info!!

if you are upgrading, i would suggest some type of eel like a zebra, snowflake, or tesselata.
not trying to start a debate but i would strongly advise you to stay away from a tesselate in anything but alarge species only tank they get vary big and incredibly aggressive
trust me i have one
