I tried to use the "seach" feature on moving a tank and came up with nothing. Google gave me some info but very general. Could someone point me in the right direction.

Getting it from someone else. He has 125g, 90g, and a 40g. I am going to take the 125g with all the rock. I think(but not sure) Im going to leave the sand in the tank with 1/2 inch of water. I plan on keeping at least 140g of the water. Plan on putting the rock in a kid pool with powerhead and heater. This will give me time and not rush. All so all the other sand will be wasted, correct me if im wrong. These tanks are somewhere in the range of 4 to 8 years old. Dont believe I can clean and keep the other sand. Any help would be kind. More info available if needed.

What type of fish/corals/other inverts? Usually when I have moved a tank I replace the sand. While it may have some microscopic life that is nice to save. It also has some nitrates in it that will be released in the move, IMHO.

If the tank has a sump with live rock and refguim you should have no issues. If not distrubing the sand bed will upset the bio filtation and probally cause a mini cycle. Replacing the sand would be the better way to go. Just make sure you keep the live rock covered with circulated water. If your unable to circulate water you probally have a 4 hr window before you will encounter significant die off. But this is also dependant on what is actually on the rock.
