Tank moving suggestions?

I bought a new stand for my tank the other day and havent moved it from the stand its on. I here moving tanks while full is an easy way to crack them. My tank is only 37 gal so its not really that big compared to trying to say a 150 or something. Its time for a water change so i was gonna drain some of the water out, how much water is to much to drain? 50%? Im guessing my tank ways around 300 lbs so if anyone has any suggestions from past experience in moving a tank while full it would be much appreciated!

personally, I have moved from a 55g to 120g and even if I did have a smaller tank, I would more than likely just empty it out and move it. Considering time, money and effort you put into it, I would just take that little extra time to be careful. However, if you feel comfortable moving it full, that is up to you.

Small enough tank. Catch the fish, don't worry about the rock or coral, leave about an inch of water above the sandbed and have some friends help you pick it up, keep it leveled.
Move the stands quickly then put them back. Corals can survive out of water for a few minutes. Once its on the new stand put the water back in using a plate or break the waterflow over the rocks.
I changed from a 55 to a 80 and set up the 80 then took all the rock and coral and set it up in the new tank, then put the water from the 55 into the 80. rocks and coral was out of the water almost 20 minutes, everything opened up fine about an hour later and is still alive that was 5 months ago.

Sand is super heavy, even leaving that in a 10g could break the seal and cause the tank to leak. It is not worth the risk. Do not leave water, sand, rock or anything in a tank to move it.
Empty it. Then move it.

If you are only moving it to change the stand, then put everything in tubs and buckets and set the empty tank up on the new stand and replace everything back in it. A good time for the stand change is during a water change.

also, when you take the sand out put it in a seperate container with some of your water in it. when you add the sand back in, scoop it out of the container so that the nasty water stays in the container and then throw that water out.
I had some nasty spikes by leaving my sand in the bottom of my tank when I moved it. And like flower said, its jsut not a good idea.
