It is a very simple process the only trick to it is being able to see what it is u want it to sort of look like prior to actual drilling

I suggest pausing and allowing the vid to completly load before playing it
How the tank used to look

How it looks now

I felt the need to free up some swimming space and to also make things easier for cleaning purposes as u can see i ahve some red slime starting and want to make the tank as easy to maintanence as possible
00nothing I loved your movie. It was awsome and I am filled with lots of questions. I want to make my 55 gallona predatory reef tank like you have. I have lights that can support soft corals and LPS and wanted to make it a reef like yours but not as intense. I have a Niger Trigger, Damsel, snowflake eel a Yellow tang and two clowns. I know that may be overstocking it but could that work. Does the damsels bother the clowns? Does the snowflake or trigger nip at your corals?
Thanks.
Oh and heres a sucky picture of my Niger. Man I need a better camera.

Thanks alot for the tips on this. Did you notice if you were able to use all your rock that you previously had or did you just take some out. How many lbs. are there in there now. I have a 125 with about 110 lbs of rock and I would be intrested in doing this due to my fish getting larger and the fact that I want them to have more swimming room. It also looks like you moved the sand from the areas then packed it back around the formations as you replaced them in the tank. Thanks again for the help and I am definetely dooing this soon to my tank, I love it

actually prior to my starting the build i knew that i wanted to remove some rock for another smaller tank so i never intended on adding it all back i believe the final number was around 175 lbs of rock in the tank removed about 35 lbs, more swimming space and room for bigger fish was my exact reasoning behind it also.

Nice niger had it not been for finding the blue throat i would have been getting one, you list looks okay to me provided u are giving adequate filtration and skimming fairly heavily to make up for the preds, the niger may get to big at some point so keep that in mind. The snowflake and trigger have never nipped at anything at all except each other ocassionally they get a little greedy at feeding time mostly when i am trying to feed the eel teh trigger steals his food so the eel retatliates then the trigger acts up, but it has never resulted in any actual biting more jsut displays of aggression.
The damsels are amazing but before even think about it unless u can find this exact species dont do it go with chromis most damsels are fiercly territorial and will cause nothing but grief these guys are insanely peaceful. I have seen them listed as both yellowtail damsels and lyretail chromis but the exact name for these guys is YellowTail Demoiselle

00nothing, I am aware that my Niger will get to big for my tank and will sell him or give him away to someone that can handle such a fish. I have a in-sump and a pretty good skimmer and good water movement. But the thing is, I already have all these fish except for the clowns. So I have the damsel. I don't know what he is. He is electric blue with all bright yellow fins and a yellow stomach. He also has little white dots on his body. I will try to get a picture later.
Since my damsel is not peaceful as I would like it to be, I guess getting a pair of clowns is out of the question right? Unless they find a host and are pretected by that.
What do you think?

my suggestion would be to try and get the damsel out and either give him away, move him to the sump, or take hime back to the pet store
even with a host the damsel may still harass the heck out of them and not only clowns but bigger fish too i did the damsel thing wish i had never bought it took me forever to get it out and that was when i had a smaller tank
whatever u decide make sure u get us lots of pictures :jumping:

So are you saying he could live in the sunp without problems? I am not going to but it could be a good idea if he is to agressive in the future. I plan on getting a fish that can hold its own with a damsel. He never bothers my yellow tang nor my Niger and definately not my sfe. I want to get something that the damsel won't mess with.
