Love your LR. What kind is it? I can never find any that I like. My snails just ride each other all the time.

I believe it's tonga live rock. I like the shapes it comes in, but doesn't really come with too much coraline on in. Where in FL do you live Christie? There's some good stores in Tampa, just gotta shop around. Anyways, thanks. I just can't wait to start getting some coral. Gotta be patient. :jumping:

I live in Citrus Springs, about an hour and 1/2 from Tampa.

Well, if you ever have a free saturday, goto Tampa Bay Saltwater, they're live rock aquaqualturists. They're only open from 12-5 on sat. They have really good deals on their LR. I think it's $2/lb baserock, $6/lb LR w/corals, $5/lb LR w/o corals. + they're live rock hase all kinds of hitchhikers on it, they're loaded with small brittlestars, hermit crabs and such. I wish i had found them before i got all mine. I paid $7/lb for all mine. :scared: Anyways, good luck, it's a lot of fun. I've only had my tank up for almost 2 months. I can't get enough of it. Almost everytime I sit there and stare at it I see something new that I haven't seen before. It's been a lot of fun. Read a lot of these posts, these people know a lot. I would have been lost without them.

Keep your alkalinity up, your calcium in the 400's, and your pH in optimal range and it will grow faster.
Another helpful hint is to get a new toothbrush with SOFT bristles and (after a good rinsing with water), gently scrub your existing coralline for a few seconds. That will cause some algae cells to go into the water column and settle in new spots. Do this with the colors you want to see more of. Once a week for a few weeks is plenty. Unfortunately one of the spots it will settle is your glass so keep up with the cleanings.

Thank you SO much for the advice! I was going to get my live rock tomorrow but now I think I'll wait and go to Tampa Bay Saltwater because it sounds like they have much more to offer.

I read in a magazine that you shouldn't put corals into a tank that is less than 6 weeks old. I'm really not too sure though. I don't currently have any. I think i'm gonna get some tomorrow or fri hopefully. Start with some mushrooms or zoos probably. Heard they're the easiest to start with.

Wow! :scared: Well I guess you just can't trust some stuff you read. Doesn't make sense how they can publish stuff in magazines if it isn't true.

Yea those are my newest pieces. I dont really like them compared to the others that have a little coraline on them. Hope it hurries up and takes over the take :p

although this would not be a bad idea it is WAY over kill IMO.
after your cycle and then have had stable water for a month. you would be fine to put things like shrooms.
this is assuming you have proper lighting for corals
