Dose anyone have one, ORA claims that they are out for sale at LFS, I personal haven't seen them at the 3 stores I frequent. On line the Red Mandarin looks amazing.

They're out. I've seen the reds and the targets for sale in 2 LFS's that deal with ORA. Personally, the reds don't look as vibrant to me as they do on the ORA website. I have seen these guys eat frozen and pellet.

lots of ora's won't eat prepared foods either. do a search. i've never seen an ora at a store.
A lot of stores are claiming that their mandarins are ORA tank raised just to make sales. Every legitimate ORA mandarin I've seen (the reds are easy to point out, their colors are more drab than wild caught) has eaten frozen.
ORA has too much on the line. They're guaranteeing that these fish eat frozen and worked with 10+ generations to make sure they do.

If you have the right setup/mature tank/mature refugium, they're not that difficult to keep.
From ORA's website:
"All of ORA’s captive bred mandarins will accept a variety of prepared frozen and dry foods upon acclimation to their new tank. They may be offered Nutramar Ova, finely chopped Hikari Frozen Blood Worms, fish roe, frozen or live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia, and New Life SPECTRUM Small Fish Formula pellets. Some have also shown interest in Cyclopeeze."

Don't you just hate when the guy who starts the thread doesn't even take part in the discussion. I apologize to DTLDreef, Snake and Peasofme, my video card on my computer burned out. Off the subject if you replace your video card replace with like manufacture, I replaced a GForce with an ATI card had real trouble. Thanks to you all for the responses, I just plan on waiting till I get my 90gal reef up and running to get a Mandarin.

One thing they I have noticed with the ORA mandarins is that they are more timid than captive caught mandarins and are not used to the reef setting. My ORA mandarin seemed like a deer in headlights in my tank and eventually became nem food.
