Hey guys dealing with a diatom bloom and hair algae, tank is 2 months old. But I am noticing a smell not a bad smell just a fish tank smell, kinda annoying. Doing regular water changes 10% a week. I guess the smell is just all the algae.
I did notice that there was algae in my overflow. Its the aga megaflow. I guess the only way to get rid of that is to take apart the overflow and clean it out? Thanks guys
All of my water parameters are good so I can only figure its the algae.

Hi the only time I have a smell problem is if I do not keep my skimmer cups and collectors clean. would you describe it more like a salty smell or does it smell more like rotten eggs? can you give a tank and equipment list?

How about under the stand?. The damp conditions can make is smell musty or like you describe.
If excessivly damp try porting a hole or two and running a fan for ventilation underneath. (two fans are most common, one blowing in, and one blowing out)

I havent really been running much carbon. Under my stand the back is all open and I have a 12" fan blowing on the return section of the sump to help cool the tank.
Right now I am running some Kent Nitrate sponge at the bottom of my baffle in a bag, so the water has to pass right through it. If I was to run carbon could I just get another bag pack it full and set it right on top of the nitrate sponge bag? To where the water would run through the carbon, then through the nitrate?
Later on I will be getting a dual reactor from bulk reef so I can run carbon and phosban at the same time. But for now the bags will have to do, gotta save up some more funds!
