Tank Temp?

My tank temperature is about 82.4 at night when the lights go out and 81.2 in the morning. I have a 300 watt heater which is usually working in the morning when I wake up...even though I thought I set the temp at around 77-78 (I have the type that you twist on top to make the red line go up and down by the temperature setting).
Regardless, I was actually happy my heater is keeping the tank in the low 80's because I live in Miami and it would be hard to keep the tank cool during the summer. But is a temp of 81-82 ok? If I get up to 83-84 should I be really worried?

I would not be too concerned unless temp rose above 85 - 86, but i would be concerned if my temp was 77 in the morning and 85 at night as large temp swings can be extremely detrimental to the health of your livestock....IMHO :)

I have always kept mine in the low 80's (81-82)w/o any problems. I wouldnt even worry at all unless the tank gets over 85-86.

I have maintained tanks at 85F before with no troubles.
IMO a rise or drop of 4 or more degrees is something to be concerned about. If your tank is 81F at night and climbs to 85F then you should set your heater higher so that the temp only fluctuates a degree or two (ie. 83F).
Where you are currently at is perfect IMO.
