hey everyone.. i was just wondering. in the winter months when it gets a little cold outside my tank's temp. drops down a little. i do have a heater but its located in the sump. and the water must cool off before it reaches the tank.. the question is if i put it in the tank will it cause any harm to the fish? (i.e.) burn them...is it ok to put it in the display tank for the colder months?

I doubt the location is the issue, but no it won't affect your fish. Your snails, however, may not like it so much.
I prefer two keep 2 undersized heaters. In my 46 gal I have two 75 watt heaters set about a degree apart. This provides me more reaction time should one heater break by either staying on or off.

would they dislike it because of the heat it puts off so when they tried to clean it they would get burned?

IMO your water temp will not drop from the time it leaves your sump to the time it goes into your tank. The water is moving at a pretty good speed and your house is still around 66 - 72 degrees depending where your temp is set. I would just leave it where it is.
