Correct....the water evaporates, but the salt stays in the tank.

most people on here would tell you to use RODI (thats reverse osmosis deionized h2o) water if you could, but if you dont have that available then i would use distilled h2o

I know there are stores that sell it (I think walmart) but I got a really great deal by calling my local culligan. It came it in those big water cooler jugs and they delivered it. It was really cheap per jug. The delivery was free but that might be becuase I have a culligan water sustem and they come here anyway. Certainly worth a phone call.

Yes.
Most Fish Stores will sell it, but you can probably get it even cheaper at a large Grocery Store or even WallMart.

you can install a unit in your house for about $150 i think and they do last awhile from what i here

culligan huh did you ever ask them were they get there water?? and a list of stuff they use to treat there water??

No. But I did test it with the tester I use for my RO/DI system and it had 0 tds.
