I don't have as much aiptasia since I used some Joes juice a while back, but there were a couple small pesky ones that were being resilient, figured I would give the shrimp a try.

It took almost a week, but when I got home this afternoon the Aiptasia was gone
The pepermint shrimp finally decided he was hungry... took him long enough!

I had a close call today when I got home. One of my powerheads fell off the glass, but luckily fell on to another PH and didn't disrupt anything. Everything seems to be doing well. The increase of coraline on the glass is noticable. I added a sixline wrasse last week, I have prolly gone over my bioload but everyone is getting along great. Anthalia is growing like crazy, I may frag my Xenia next week to help shave off some cost of the muchrooms I want to pick up from my LFS. Let me know what you think.

I am curious about if people do 10% water changes every week or 20% water changes every other week? I have heard both ways have good results. What do you do?

looking good so far. glad to hear all is well. when i had my 28 gallon, i went out of town for three days and my powerhead fell onto the sand and messed everything up, but everything pulled through. i was about to get out of the hobby then, but i noticed some coraline, so that kept me in the game.

Thanks Nemo. Yeah I was out of town for 6 days and lost my conch and an emerald crab. I have had one of my PH drop, but fortunately did not do any damage. I am getting ready to upload some pictures of the new rockwork.

Here is the new rock work! I just shifted some pieces around on the right side of the tank. I need an ID on the zoos in the second pic, there are two different species. I keep searching for a good place for my feather duster, but he keeps on creeping away from where I can see him. I am starting a project to construct a custom stand and canopy for my newly purchased 28 gallon bow front. Enjoy the pics!

Its been up for 2 1/2 months. Seaclone just crapped out on me. Working on getting a Aqua C Remora with the pre-skimmer.

man. 2.5 months! thats some crazy coraline growth you have there. whats your secret?
oh, and i had a coralife 65 on my 28 gallon. but i would suggest you go with the aqua c since it takes up less room. thats what always bugged me about the Coralife.

haha no secret! Most all of the rock in my tank came from the old system my buddy had setup. When I purchased the tank, he had no filtration and a maxi jet 400 and 600 running in the tank. He topped off with tap water, and the tank had a salinity of 1.031. As you can see from the first couple pics, the tank was covered from top to bottom in coraline. I currently use the two part dosing system to keep my calcium and alkalinity up and ever since about week 5 the coraline has kept spreading.
I am looking forward to the remora skimmer. I have only heard good things about it.

I passed on purchasing a $110 used Aqua C skimmer and went to Home Depot and bought a $.50 cent piece from the kitchen department and fixed the leak my seaclone skimmer was experiencing. It has been running for 48 hours and is skimming like a champ.
I have decided to try freshwater with my new tank.

It has been a couple months since an update. I did some aquascaping due to a non-reef safe crab. I added two frag tray's (soap dishes) which work great because I can stick them right up near the light. The Anthelia mother colony has blown up and produced some nice size frags. The Xenia colony is taking over as expected. I managed to start a zoo rock from a small frag, but when I re-positioned the rock the frag fell off, but there were still 30+ polyps left on the rock. My green Ric has produced 3 small frags, and the orange Ric is about to split aswell. I started topping off with tap water that sits in a bucket for 48+ hours before adding to the tank to rid it of Chlorine. I have not tested my parameters for a while, nor have I done any water changes. I think the 45+ pounds of LR have helped keep my water quality up. I added some cheato, but have no idea if it is having any effect. Might test tomorrow and see if my trates are down. Oh and I got rid of the Sixline... the beauty and the tomato were not too fond of him... and neither was I.

Couple pictures of the frag tray's. Third pic is the lone Anthelia frag I got from a friend about a year ago. Last picture is from my 20g when I first started out in the hobby a year ago... I think my understanding of saltwater has improved since then!

Thanks for the comments. I tested my levels yesterday and everything checked out ok. My Alkalinity was low, so I started dosing again. Does anyone else top off with tap water? I read that it can be beneficial because it has a lot more micronutrients that corals appreciate.

I have been busy finishing up school and had to tear down this tank for the move back home. I sold all of my corals, and actually made some good money on them! I kept the rock, sand, and equipment and hope to set this tank back up next year. The plan is to stock it with 2 black clowns, a dwarf angel, and a goby. It will be FOWLR because I want to focus my attention on rearing clowns.
I am looking to upgrade some of the equipment. I was thinking about getting 2 koralia 1's. Has anyone had any experience with the ones, and do you think they would work in this tank?
I also purchased a 90g RR that I hope to start working on next year. I am going to build a stand and canopy over the next couple weeks and hope to have it running by Feb.

Back in business with some new powerheads. I modified my maxijet 600 and it pushes out a crazy amount of water now. I had 5 corals survive total darkness for a month and a 3 week cycle. Plan is to pick up three Bangai Cardinal tomorrow along with some snails.
