tap water

o.k. maybe i didn't read enough. i have just set up my tank and used tap water to fill it. actually, i mixed the salt put the water and crushed coral in the tank, removed the water, removed the crused coral, put the water back in, then added live sand. the water has been sitting around for about two weeks now, in and out of the tank.
should i remove the tap water, or leave it. if i leave it, what steps do i need to take to purify it?
thanks

What?
Re-explain
Do you have salt water that has been sitting around, or do you have tap water?
Always purify tap water, and always double check the salt level with a hydrometer (or refractometer, that's if you have salt water pre-mixed).

I started my tank with tap as well. Just start use RO water from now on. Also expect a hefty outbreak of diatoms, especially with a newly cylced tank. NO MORE TAP!

Depends on your water quality..
In Phoenix, some people I ask use TAP for top offs and RO only for water changes.
Phoenix water does have a lot of calcium in it.
