Tap Water?

When I first started this hobby I used tap water just because I didnt know what I was doing, my tank looked so bad, green algae took over along with red algae. I think if you dont have an RO unit go to walmart and use there refill water machines thats what I use, its 33 cents a gallon, and you cant beat that.

I would say that this advice is scientifically bogus - completely - and at least 15 years out of date.
I would actually suggest you find a new LFS based on this advice, to be honest. They are completely wrong, not to mention that the problems with tap water can be far more than just extra algae growth. We test for such a small part of what is in water....that statement is just totally off. :scared:
