I find the expeirence liberating. I have about 20 differnt tats on my right arm and shoulder. I would agree with hot, that it has to be something meaningful. Also, throughly research your tat artist. I have seen some pretty ugly biffs... And that is a very long lasting biff.
My first I got when I was 18 (the youngest w/o parent consent) it was an MC Escher. I love the tat because the artist did an excellent job, but to be honest, I had no Idea what it was supposed to stand for. Since, I have come up with a nice cover story, but now I hate the idea of getting a tatoo because it was cool looking or because my friends where doing it (both prime reasons why I did it). It may work out though, I discovered on my second tat, after years of reflection, when they do mean something, you'll vivedly remember that event, or period in your life when you look at the tat.
And as a last side note. If you do get it, follow there care instructions to a T. Otherwise it fades and never really takes, espcially with black ink. Good luck
