tds meter help

:help: i have a tds meter that came with my ro its one you dip in the water...the only thing is it didnt' come with instructions....what do i do just dip it? and what reading am i supposed to get?

wow ok thanks nice to know well when i first hooked up the ro my reading was 9 now its 6 omg i did my tap and it was 125

all depends on how good your RO unit is... some of them have a hard time hitting 0
mine runs 0-1... when it hits 2... i change the filters
125 outta tap isnt too bad for tap water... some people have tapwater with tds in the couple-hundreds
my tap is in the 60s... i have excellent tap... but still wont use it in my tanks.

my tds went down to 4 now so i'm assuming that it will get better as i let it run..but my freshwater i measured it for the fun of it and it was 465
is that terrible? and i only ever used distilled

once again... tds meters are only use for freshly made source water... not in a tank where elements, minerals, and compounds build up (a living tank) :)
