Ok i have a 40 gallon tank but upgrading to 55 very soon..I have 1 Saddle back Clown fish, I have These Corals-Open Brain Coral,Star Polyps,Carpet Anemone,Jewel Bubble Anemone,Grape Bubble Anemone,Candy Coral,Some big group of green-orange mushrooms, like 5-6 Hermit Crabs,1 turbo snail,50 or 60 lbs LR,No live sand in but have a 20lb back ready, gonna get Miracle Mud setup. Here are the Fish i like and really want and what i want to do..
<Hr>
I want to get another Saddle Back (So they can have babies)
1 BLue Hippo Tang(Babie)
1 Yellow Tang(Babie)
Some other type of fish..
I know it seems risky on the clowns and babies but i was thinkin Maybe i could get it at an angle that the Tangs couldnt get a clear shot of the eggs and where the clowns can protect them more. And When i can see the eyes show in the eggs i Move them into another tank without Exsposing them in the air. Cause i dont want to run to many tanks. Im gonna be doing a Aggressing tank soon too. i figure 3 tanks at the most. So Tell me what u think please. Email me at Iambeefman88@cs.com or my IM name Iambeefman88
Thanks, Danny
P/S im 13yrs old but have been doing Saltwater tanks for about a year with my dad and then started my fish tank about 4 months ago.
ALso Email me if u want Pics of my tank and how it looks so far.

skip the tangs unless you upgrade past 55gal you will need a minum tank of 100gals for them or thay will just die as far as outher fish gose there are quite a few out there best to do is to look at this site www.ffxpress.com and figure out what you whant and ask about them you dont whant to pick things that gets big there are books out there that have a lager varity of fish in them and tell you everthing you need to have and do to keep them in good health hope this helps :D

As long as you plan to move the tangs into a larger tank when they begin to get too large for the tank, they should be fine. Simply putting two saddle-back clowns together doesn't mean they will spawn. Putting a Haddon's anemone in with them may help, but it will require deeper sand (you will want 6-7") and very intense lighting. Also, you will have to keep your water quality near perfect, both for the anemone, and the fish eggs, if the clowns should spawn. There is no guarantee the saddles will take to aquarium life. Many will sulk in the corner of the tank and refuse food until it either starves and dies, or becomes infected with parasites and dies. Others will settle quickly and eat almost anything and do perfectly. This species is very unpredictable as to acclimation. If you decide to go for it, good luck!

Yea I was planning on upgrading to a bigger tank in a while.. maybe a 90Gal or so.but that wont be like untill 2 years or so. But would it be ok if i got 2 tangs in a 55 gallon.. They would kill eachother would they?? and for the clowns if the did spawn should i move the rock with the eggs on them into another tank??? Because i really want to raise clown fish but still want to keep them in the community tank. I am just planning the 2 clowns a tang or 2 and maybe 1-2 more fish. and then the rest clean up crew.

My biggest concern about the clown is they will kill each other. You cannot easily mate clown like that. Especially after one has been in your tank for awhile by itself. It has established its territory. If you're lucky then the new one and the old one will pair up, but if you don't one of them is going to die. Hate to burst your bubble but that's how it is. I don't think anemones is the main concern for spawning. You already have a carpet anyway. Doesn't your clown live in it already?
Anyway, I believe you need the clowns to pair first.
Also if you are thinking of breeding, I suggest you get a separate tank instead of removing the eggs to a different tank if anything happens. You'll decrease the chance of them surviving. It's not only being exposed to air that you need to be concerned about. Two different tanks, as carefully as you try to match them, they will have different water parameters. These little eggs need a very high water quality to grow; no spikes is allowed. Also your cleanup crew can also be predators to those eggs.
If you move your saddleback clown to a new environment, the chance of it will pair up with the new clown that you'll get is higher.
About the tangs, they'll be fine. They are basically different species and have different body types. So they're fine as long as you provide them with a good environment; a bigger tank.
Hope that helps...

Well now cause im not gonna get 2 types of clowns but for them laying eggs and stuff. What if i put them in a 10 gallon, they had babies (hopefully) then when they are done with the buisness and they are fertile. I move them into the big tank again..By the way what is the signs of knowing ur clowns are ready to lay eggs???? My dads always do some weird Vibrating thing next to eachother.I also need to know the signs if there is a different one for Saddle Back clowns. So then if they are in the big tank i can move them or will they not want to have babies if u change the tank(Ph difference unless i can keep it at 8.3.
Thanks for all your help guys.

if you are truly interested in breeding clownfish i would reccommend buying and readign from cover to cover Clownfish by Joyce D. Wilkenson It is all about clownfish and their different types of husbandries. get this and read it before you weven buy a tank, as it will tell you tank mates, water params, etc.
as for the tangs, i wouldnt put one in a 55 let alone two. i had a baby blue hippo that was about the size of a 50 cent piece when i bought him, and in about a year and a half, he grew to eight inches from head to the base of the tail, and about an inch and a half thick. They eat too much, grow too fast, and are too succeptible to ich, for two to be housed in a 55. MOSt people will tell you one for a 75, but i feel that thsi is still to small, id say one tang per 100 gals of h2O, but again, this is JMO
good luck, and keep us posted, but i would highly reccommend getting that book and reading it before you get a tank set up
