For a basic fish only with live rock set up. Michael S. Paletta has a great beginner book called, "The New Marine Aquarium" I have it and it is a good not too technical book.
I also have "Natural Reef Aquariums" by John H. Tullock which is great for reef tanks. and a good fish identification book is Marine fishes by Scott W. Michael, it has 500 different commonly kept fish and a little bio on each one.

My favorite book is marine fishes by scott w. michael. It tells you the sizes, what they eat, reef compatibility, how easy they are to care for, behavior, and where they are from. There are color pictures and everything is easy to understand.
