Hey all. My 125 has been setup for a little more than 2 weeks now and my temp swings from about 77 in the morning to about 81 or 82 at night before my MH cut off. Ive got two fans blowing on the surace of the water but it still gets that high. I'm wanting to add some fish and corals this weekend and wanted to know if this is acceptable?
Also my chaeto in my sump has been in there for about a week now and it dosent look like its getting any bigger...maybe its becuase i dont have anyting except live rock in my tank but i just wanted to make sure it was ok.

Your temp swing is not good, do you have a heater in your sump/tank to maintain the temperatures at night? If not, get one, a good one too.
Your chaeto may just not have anything to eat yet, such as nitrates. Do you run lighting 24/7 on your sump?

no its not on 24/7 Its on a reverse cycle from my MH lights.
What kind of heather do you guys recommend....would it be ok to put the heather in my sump?

Leave the lights on 24/7, no reason not to since algae doesn't sleep as far as we know :) I'm not sure about brand, but get one of those fancy metal heaters, and yes you can put it in the sump (preferred actually).

I leave my Chaeto on with my tank lights, since my fuge is next to my tank, i would like for my fish to get some rest, It is constantly growing under regular flourescent lights, what kind of lighting do you have on your chaeto? Your chaeto WILL grow,, it is more of a better sign that its NOT getting smaller!! because it will die quite quickly.

im pretty sure its not getting smaller. The lighting should be good. There are some micro bubbles in my fuge though.....will this affect the chaeto?

Cheato is a problem algae in its native waters... choking out corals, etc. It thrives in almost any conditions. I doubt the bubbles will bother it.

Bubbles do not bother mine, on the contrary, mine receives water from the output of my protein skimmer.
