I have a 100gl reef tank. the temp. ranges from 79 in the a.m. to 84 in the early p.m. after the lights have been on for a few hrs. I use two heaters, set at 79 ea. the hood is well ventilated. any suggestions for methods or equipment??:help:
I went from the hood that came with my tank (plastic w/ flip front) to a glass top, and then to egg crate. I dont have that problem anymore, but evaporation has increased.
5 degree swing daily is alot.
What kind of lights do you have?
Hope you dont have glass over water bc glass holds heat.
You can but a fan blowing on sump if you have one. :notsure:
In summer it will be worse so mayby you should get a chiller.
Glass holds heat? For about what. . .30 seconds. hehe
I have a glass top and don't really have any heat fluctuations at all. :notsure: I would think that getting a chiller is just masking a different problem. Do you have the tank right on a heating vent or something that runs more durring the day then at night? I don't know.
Its the lights. Try afan in your canopy sucking air OUT of the hood. If that doesn't help you may have to break down and buy a chiller. I'm assuming you have MH lights, due to the 5 degree daily swing.
