the temperature in my 12 g aquapod wont go down.......i do not have a heater in the tank and the water temp stays at a consistent 83-85 degrees....i live in chicago and it was just -5 yesterday (-17 with the windchill)......i have another tank without a heater also and that one stays at 75..they are basically right next to each other in my room and i kept the lights off all day yesterday on the tank and the temp didnt go down...right now i left the hood up to see if that will work and i turned down the pump to almost its lowest setting.......i have no idea what its deal is....any suggestions????????

The temp should go down to at least room temp if you open the hood. What kind of pump is it? I am assuming it is submersible which could heat it up also.

i had a 24 ap and had the same issue, whats the room temp? if you put something to hold the whole lid up a few inches it should be fine you should also get a heater just incase mine wont turn on until the temp goes below 79, but temp will drop if you leave the lid open overnight

My guess is that your pump is generating all that extra heat. Try replacing it and see what happens.

Ditto that! Replace the pump with a Maxijet 900! Have a heater ready and put it in the tank at the same time so your temperature does not plummet too quickly.

Also, try leaving the feeding hatch open so the heat can vent out of the tank. Having a fully eclosed lid over the tank makes it hard for heat to escape.

Yea when i left the entire hood open my temp went down by the end of the day.....but i closed it in the morning and turned on the lights and then went to class with feeding hatch open...but the temp was right back up in the 80s when i got back from class.....So i will try just proping the hood up just a little bit and try to get a constant temp out of this system.......thanks for the ideas

i believe aquapods still come with only one fan. i dropped in a second fan a few days ago (very easy to do) and my temp stays at a wonderful 78 degrees.

While it may be your pump is giving off extra heat, also know that more flow equals more heat. I have a 14g Bio-Cube with a room fan pointed at it from below and that seems to help keep the temp down. Simple enough to try
