How do you keep your temperature consistent? My temperature fluctuates from 78.5-82 max. but I do not know how to keep it from doing this. The lighting setup up that I am using is the cause of the temperature increase, I'm getting fans, will this help?? Will two fans vibrate the tank any? Please help

what type of lights do you have? the fans should work, but can you move the lights away a little? just realize the fans will evaporate water faster.

IMO this isnt something you should be too concerned with anyway minor temperature fluctuations of 3 to 4 degrees is not monumental. If you were in the 85* mark then I would say try to lessen it. I have a small fan that blows across the top of my tank. It keeps the temp between 79 and 82. With out it I swing into the 86 range, when my lights are on.

thats not such a huge deal, but when it gets cold around this time i would use a heater (if you dont control the temp in the house). my tanks went down to the mid 60s so i had to add a heater

I dont even have heater on mine. With all the pumps and everything running, it stays at 78. Now when the lights turn on, thats a different story. The chiller kicks on brings it to a comfortable 77.

Set your heaters to 82F.

82 is not too hot and 78 is not to cold the ocean can swing more than that in one day, granted you want to keep it as constant as you can, a little temp swing isn't bad. My tank right now stays about 80 - 82, durring the summer it is 81 - 84. If you want it to stay in the upper range add a heater. If you want to cool it down you can look into removing or replacing anything that makes heat. For example if you have a sump or fuge and the pump is submerged you can use an external pump to cool it down a little. I don't have a heater on my tank and I only have a 2 in fan built into the lights. I agree that a larger fan in your tank will evaporate the water at a faster rate. Also I agree with the suguestion that you can raise or lower your lights to adjust the temp some. You just have to play with the equipment untill you find what works for you.
