My laptop has been running really slow lately and ive heard that the temporary internet files take up a lot of space and can slow it down. How do i get to them so i can delete them?

If you are running windows, go to my computer, right click on your hard drive, go to properties and then click on disc clean up. That should clean out your temporary internet files. you can also defrag your hard drive, and delete any unnecessary programs. that should make your computer run a little faster.

right click the internet explorer button and click on properties. hit delete under the browsing history and choose to delete all the files, even the off-line ones. you could also download ad-aware or spybot or something similar and check for spyware.

I would also add a spyware scan and a registry cleaner to that list...but for true speed, a reinstall of the OS is the best magic(not practical for some peeps, but it only takes me 2-3 hrs). I do my home PC once a year. I use second HD for programs/games and a third to keep patches/driver updates/pics/junk on.

My laptops get a reinstall as well, on more of a "as needed" basis, a single partitioned drive for saved data.

As you add files (photos, music, etc.) and programs your machine will slow down. Try moving that data to a remote drive or save to CDs, DVDs, etc.
Adding RAM is cheap and will increase speed. Just doubled mine for $24 on auction site. Simply remove yours and snap in new memory. Do a google including your make and model asking for RAM and you should find plenty of info.
My wife just cleaned her laptop of over 4GB of photos. This stuff adds up faster than you think. (stored them on DVD)
There is a free virus/spyware available online. Avast is pretty good, and it's free.
