tenticles coming from LR

I noticed tonight that 2 or 3 pieces of my LR have something living inside, that puts out 8 to 12 tenticles, the width of a thread and yellowish in color, and reaching out 3 to 4 inches. I noticed it when one of my hermit crabs was crawling on top of them and they began to withdraw them back in. Can anyone tell me what they might possibly be? It is really hard to get a good look, because they seem to be coming from holes in the LR.

I read the title wrong the first time and went "WHAT?"
sounds like maybe spaghetti worm, is there a little crusty white tube thing where they're coming out of the rock?
