Terrible time with temp!

I have a terrible time with tempatures in my tank. Therm is set on 80 and during the day with lights on it gets there, sometimes a little over but not to 81, then at night it makes it all the way down to 76. We keep our house pretty cool, but the therm should be working better than that in my opinion. I have an 80gal bowfront. Whatcha think? ANy suggestions on how to fix this? I have ordered another therm. will be here friday.

I would wait till your thermostate comes as it seems that is your problem. It should not fluctuate that much unless you are running a real small heater for that size of tank??

That would have been my suggestion. Them. must not be doing it's job. My house stays around 68 and my themometer keeps it warm at night.

what size heater do you have??? either get 2x200w 1 in the tank and one in the sump or get a 300w heater to put in the tank

It is 300w it's before the sump area tho of the wet/dry
