Test Kit???

Is a Red Sea Saltwater Test Kit all i need to get started besides a hydrometer for water testing? It measures Nitrites,Nitrates, amonium and i think ppm and silica. Does any use this type of kit?

Don't get it. It gives false positives. Go to Reefgeek and get a Salifert Marine Test kit, it's about $69 and includes All the basic tests you'll need to get started. Best Kit you can get!
I learned the hard way with the Red Sea Kit, total garbage...

Too bad I didn't see this earlier, as I purchased one on Monday.
What chemical test gives false positives?
Hopefully not all!

Pretty Much all- Amonnia never reads below .25, Nitrite aswell and Nitrate comes up with a very light blue color that's not even on the chart, it wasn't just my kit, I been told acouple times from different people here about them. I did a search also which turned up more threads on the test kit.
I paid about $50 for the Red Sea Test kit, might aswell have flushed it down the toilet. Was not a happy camper when I found out.....
